Polypipe Building Services (PBS) has released a new technical training module to help specifiers, contractors and engineers integrate multilayer composite pipe (MLCP) into water supply systems.
The training session, entitled ‘Understanding the benefits of Multilayer Composite Pipe in Hot & Cold Water and Heating Systems’ has been approved by the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE) as continuous professional development (CPD) material.
The training module compares the performance of metal and plastic pipes and delves into the high-performance properties of MLC pipe, its composition, material properties, application benefits and how it is manufactured.
The CPD module also explores MLCP connection fittings and transition methods between MLC and other pipe types, equipping engineers, specifiers, and contractors with the technical knowledge needed to incorporate MLCP safely and efficiently within a building. Complete with examples of fittings and cross-sectional diagrams, the presentation provides technical insight into press-fit jointing to help engineer risk out of the installation stage and improve project efficiency. This covers system transitions, installation checks, and various applications illustrated by technical drawings.
Steve Bamforth, UK Strategic Project Director at PBS, said: “We’re very pleased to be able to offer this new CPD training session. Raising awareness of the benefits of MLCP and providing technical information on pipe materials, fittings and applications helps ensure thorough understanding across all levels of system installation. By providing accurate data and transparency around water supply systems, we’re supporting customers in choosing the right solutions for their projects. And importantly, we’re helping to reduce any risk that might be associated with the design and installation of water supply systems.
“Being able to highlight the environmental advantages of MLC pipe, also supports the wider industry in meeting its sustainability goals. The CPD training module is CIBSE-approved, which provides assurance that the content has been third party verified and that it can effectively help specifiers, contractors and engineers with best practice knowledge.”
