Baxi has launched a new range of Care Kits designed to make preventative boiler maintenance simpler and more efficient for installers.

Proactive maintenance can help support reliable boiler performance throughout its lifetime. By replacing high-wear components at the appropriate time, installers can reduce the risk of unexpected breakdowns and callouts, minimise disruption for homeowners and help maintain system efficiency.

The new kits are optional and are not a warranty requirement. They provide a structured approach to planned maintenance and are available in two versions: Care Kits and Care Kits Plus.

Baxi Care Kits are recommended for use during an annual boiler service as part of routine preventative maintenance. They include components such as a combustion chamber door gasket, flue adaptor test point and O-ring. Replacing gaskets and seals once they have been exposed during a boiler strip-down can help ensure the appliance continues to deliver efficient heating and hot water.

Care Kits Plus are intended for key points in the boiler’s lifecycle, when additional components may benefit from replacement. Baxi recommends fitting them every three to five years, depending on the condition and usage of the system.

Each Care Kit Plus contains all the parts included in the standard Care Kit, as well as an ignition electrode with gasket and screws, an expansion vessel valve core, and a plate-to-plate heat exchanger gasket and screws.

The contents of each kit have been selected using Baxi’s research into the parts most frequently replaced during servicing and repair work. According to the company, components included in the Care Kits are used in around one-third of service and repair situations.

Bringing these parts together in a single package allows merchants to offer them at a more competitive price and helps ensure installers have the recommended components available when needed.

The kits can also provide homeowners with a clear visual demonstration of the work carried out during an annual service. This can help communicate the value of preventative maintenance, reduce the likelihood of warranty callouts between services and improve customer satisfaction.

Andrew Speake, Portfolio Manager at Baxi, said installer feedback played an important role in developing the kits.

He said: “The feedback from the engineers taking part in the research was that our Care Kits are reassuring to the homeowner and add value, and that the pre-selected parts, along with the recommended timings for use, remove the guesswork commonly involved in preventative maintenance.

“They also commented that having all the parts in one sealed package would remove the need for multiple orders and journeys, while avoiding the need to carry loose spares that can easily become damaged or lost in the engineer’s van.

“Our Care Kits offer a straightforward way for installers to carry out best-practice preventative maintenance based on the age and condition of the boiler, for the benefit of the customer.

“Providing these identified components in easy-to-access Care Kits means they can be replaced before issues occur. In this way, we hope to help installers move from reactive repairs to planned maintenance, supporting reliable performance, homeowner comfort, fewer disruptions and clear value for the customer.”
